Some other new features of Thunderbird 1.1 are enhanced security, anti-phishing support, an improved spell-check engine, and better integration with third-party antivirus software.ABC News and NBC News Launch PodcastsMay 25, 2005 ABC News and NBC News have have announced that they plan to offer on-demand audio podcasts of their news programs. ABC is offering Good Morning America and Nightline podcasts, and plans to offer others soon. NBC is planning to podcast hourly news updates starting in June, along with segments from programs like Today and the NBC Nightly News. Clearly, the television networks are trying to recycle their news content for a mobile audience to derive additional advertising revenue. This may very well be the perfect recording device for conducting podcasts on the road.Infinity Broadcasting To Launch All-Podcast Radio StationApril 28, 2005 Infinity Broadcasting, a division of Viacom, has announced that they are launching their first all-podcast radio station on May 16th. The station, KYCY (1550 AM) in San Francisco, will be nicknamed KYOURadio and will play only listener-submitted content. Listeners will be able to upload their digital audio content to the KYOURadio.com website for screening and playback consideration. The radio station will also be available via a streaming audio feed from KYOURadio.com.Open Media Network Launched By Former Netscape ExecsApril 26, 2005 Two former Netscape executives have launched the Open Media Network, a non-profit P2P media distribution startup. Combining the functionality of TiVo with peer-to-peer distribution, the service lets media publishers distribute their content inexpensively. The network uses commercial P2P technology from Kontiki. Open Media Network is initially focusing on delivering public domain content, indie films, podcasts and videoblogs. Later versions will support digital rights management and micropayments so that publishers can get paid for their content.Creating Podcasts With Your Windows PCApril 5, 2005 WindowsDevCenter has published an article showing how you can create podcasts using your Windows PC.
