Tom's Hardware has published a comparison and review of four low cost color laser printers. They include the Dell 3000cn, the HP LaserJet 2600n, the Oki C3200, and the Samsung CLP-510. The average price of these printers is around $500, with the Dell 300cn going for around $320. In addition, the costs per page using these printers are far lower than those of inkjet printers. The review compares these printers in terms of price, cost per page, print quality, and print speed.

At around $350 street price (the version without networking, the CLP-510, costs $100 less than that), this is the lowest priced color laser printer out there. A company called 3D Systems has unveiled a desktop-sized laser printer that creates solid 3D models from liquid plastic. The device is targeted at educational institutions, designers, engineers, and marketers who need to create prototypes and models from computerized 3D designs. Pricing for the device starts at around $23,000.

HardwareCentral has reviewed the Samsung SCX-4100, an all-in-one black and white laser printer / copier / flatbed color scanner with a retail price of only $199. It has 8MB of memory, prints 600 dpi output at 15 pages per minute, and holds 250 sheets of paper. The standard toner cartridge prints 3,000 sheets with a cost of roughly 2.7 cents per sheet, although the printer comes with a 1,000 page "starter" toner cartridge. The 24-bit flatbed color scanner features 600 dpi optical resolution and the copier feature offers 50% to 200% zoom.
